Deviousness |
Vision: You chose an interesting, rare-sounding scene from Minecraft to illustrate, and it came out pretty well. The Endermen look like they're busy taking good care of the flowers, and don't care that the viewer is watching. Except that one in the back, though; he looks peeved (which he would realistically be, we're looking right at him). The title is quite fitting for the other three, though.
Originality: I'm afraid I can't say too much here; Endermen and Minecraft scenes are pretty common. However, this is fanart, so that's forgiven. Plus, your unusual scenario pretty much overrides this; while most seem to view Endermen as evil, teleporting monstrosities, you've portrayed them as the gardeners of your world (Gardendermen?). Again, though, the one in the back and his shadowy aura reminds us that these are, in fact, Endermen.
Technique: Here's where you got me. While recreating the cubic look and odd proportions of Minecraft, the Endermen have almost natural poses for limbs of their lengths. the angry Enderman's jaw is clearly opened and he has an odd, dark aura, which is nice. The flowers, particularly the one that the Enderman in front is holding, use the cubic look interestingly by having flat sides and petals, but still being three-dimensional. The cliffs are highly reminiscent of some rather interesting mountains I've discovered in some of my worlds. Two especially nice features of the cliffs are their textures and their "wobbliness", or how they're not perfectly straight and aligned (particularly the ones on the right). They really help to add visual interest. In contrast, the moon is a perfect square. Would it perhaps be different if we examined it closer? Perhaps, but we don't know. That's nice and mysterious, just like the moon itself. All in all, you had fun with this, and it shows.
Impact: I'm going to go on again about the uncommon scene here. Although it looks unlikely, it apparently did happen, which is very cool. It makes me wonder, though; why are the Endermen here? They don't like us, they don't like water, which the planet is full of, and they die when the sun rises. Could it be that they think it worth the remainder of their lives to go from the End and appreciate the world's natural beauty?
Overall: Though the lower originality score did your numerical overall ranking no favors, the picture really was great. Your quite visually pleasing art style did this unlikely but beautiful scene right. Plus, like I said, this is fanart, so anyone browsing for it probably doesn't care about that. All in all, great job! I can't wait to see what else you come up with in the future.
